Laura Carrie Waterman of Wheaton
Funeral services for Laura Carrie Waterman, 82, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Blanchard Road Alliance Church, 1766 S. Blanchard Road, Wheaton. Born April 18, 1920, in Long Lake, N.Y., the daughter of Ransom Orin and Rosemand Ann (nee Hamner) Seaman, she died peacefully at her home Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, the 26th anniversary of her beloved husband's death. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace, following the services. Raised by her grandparents in Ellenburg, N.Y., after the death of her mother, Laura married her husband in Rome, N.Y., and followed him all over the world as a loving helpmate, living 10 years in the Philippines before returning to the United States and settling in Wheaton in 1966. After working many years at Parkway Nursing Home and Wheaton College, she was a tireless volunteer at the Repeat Boutique in her retirement. Survivors include her sons, Raymond (Cheryl E.) of West Chicago, Dale (Ruth) of Wheaton, Gilbert (Cheryl A.) of Wheaton, Douglas (Nancy) of Wheaton and Randy (Debi) of Wheaton; grandchildren, Paul (Laura), Rachel, Peter, Matthew, Ann, Mark, Angela, Carrie, Melissa, Jonathan, Scott, Julia, Kelly, Lisa, Allison, Ben, James, Jacob and Natalie; great-grandchildren, Lela and Timothy; and her sister, Viola Gruber. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. G. Henry Waterman; son, David; and a grandson, Keith. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the church.
