Simone passed away peacefully on July 15, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was just shy of her 103rd birthday. Simone was born September 14,1912 to French parents Irene and Benjamin Alliguie. She was raised at the Liberty Hotel on Kearny Street. In 1920 Simone spent a year in France visiting relatives. When the family returned they moved to the Ritz Hotel and she became a big sister to twin brothers. Sadly the boys passed at four months of age. Simone attended Washington School, Adams School and Girls High though 10th grade. She went on to Munson's Business School to prepare for the working world. She worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance and the Royal Meat Company for about 8 years.
In 1932, she met her husband to be Rene Rouquette. They were married in the French Church June 19, 1937. In 1940, they moved to the Marina District of San Francisco where she would live the rest of her life. While raising a daughter, she volunteered many, many hours at the French Hospital. During her retirement years she so enjoyed supporting all her grandchildren's activities and was immensely proud of their accomplishments.
Simone leaves behind a loving daughter and a loving son in law who was always there for her. She leaves three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her great grandchildren always brought a smile to her face. During her last year, they were a source of constant joy.
We were amazed with her strength and determination during her last five years of life. Our family will be forever grateful to Irene G her loyal, understanding, and compassionate caregiver for the past four plus years. She was a gift to our family. A big thank you also to Melisa at the Melicor Agency.
Simone rests eternally next to Rene at Holy Cross Cemetery. Rene proceeded her in death March 1989. A private service was held.
