Lucretia Louise Adair, 79, passed away on July 25th under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

Lucretia was born Lucretia Louise Piazza in Watertown, NY on December 2, 1935 to Anna M. (Tubolino) and Benedetto Piazza. She married John Adair, who was serving at Camp Drum, in August of 1963 at St. Patrick’s Church in Watertown, NY. That marriage ended in divorce.

She is survived by three children, Ann Marie Adair, John Patrick and Lisa Adair, & Michael James and Laurel Adair, all of Watertown; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tonilynn, Harold, Aaron and Sean; one great-grandchild, Bryson; and two sisters, Johanna Cronin, CA and Esther Daly, FL.

She is pre-deceased by four sisters, Marie Piazza (died at 4 years), Mary Hudson, TX, Virginia Walsh, MI and Anna Antonelli, Watertown; & four brothers, Dominic, CA, James, TX, Anthony, NY and Angelo, NC.

Lucretia grew up in Sackets Harbor on the old military ad where her family established a thriving business selling produce. Throughout her life, she would always speak fondly of those days in Sackets as a simple and peaceful time. She spent some years being stationed at Fort Dix, NJ and returned to Northern NY in 1976 where she would raise her family and help care for her ailing mother. She also donated a great deal of her time preparing food at the Salvation Army on State Street in Watertown.
Later in life she developed a passion for caring for stray animals and providing food and medical attention for those in need. She will be remembered by those close to her for her kindness, and the generosity she would show for the less fortunate.

A graveside service will be held 11:00am Thursday, July 30th at Glenwood Cemetery in Watertown with Pastor Michael Bartholomew officiating.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Watertown ASPCA, 25056 Water Street, or Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.

Arrangements are with Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Inc.
