Harriett Ann Dearinger was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Sept. 21, 1941, died at her home in Millersburg, Dec. 8, 1927, aged 86 years, 2 months, and 17 days. She came with her parents to Jasper county, Iowa, when quite a young girl traveling through in a covered wagon when the country was new and inhabited by Indians. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Leonard R Seaton, April 9, 1860. In 1866 they moved to Iowa County where they settled on a farm west of Millersburg. Fifteen years ago they moved to Millersburg where she has resided since. Her husband, Leonard Seaton, passed to the great beyond, August 31, 1916. She had three sisters and one brother all of whom have preceded her in death. To Mr. and Mrs. Seaton were born five children: George M., John N., Cora D., James M., and Frank E. Cora died July 25, 1887; John died May 22, 1923, the other three sons survive and were with her to the end. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, and besides a host of other relatives and friends. Soon after their marriage Mr and Mrs Seaton united with the Methodist Episcopal church and have been consistent Christians until their death. She was a teacher in the sunday school at Hope Chapel for many years. It was never too cold or stormy for her to be found in her place in Sunday School or church. Of her it can be said: she rests from her labors and her works do follow her. Interment was held at the Millersburg cemetery.
