Mrs. Nellie Neal, 91, mother of Mrs. John Martin of Sigourney, died Saturday, August 4, at the Nursing Home in Sigourney. Mrs. Neal was born in Zanesville, Ohio in 1870, the daughter of George and Sarah Taylor. She came to Iowa as a small child and spent most of her near Deep River, with the exception of a few years near Pocahontas. Her husband, Chris Neal, preceded her in death in 1957. Survivors include five daughters Mrs. Lawrence Van Dee, Mrs R Stakle of Cedar Rapids, Mrs W Martin of Cedar Rapids, Mrs John Martin of Sigourney and Mrs Oscar Olin of What Cheer; one son, R Neal of Cedar Rapids; 41 grandchildren, 125 great grandchildren, and 40 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Frank Neal and Mrs Lewis Wolf. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in deep river and burial was in the Goldenrod Cemetery in Deep River.
