Pastor Bob Winter of Optimal Hospice will officiate. Virlia was born April 23, 1927 in Paris, Arkansas and she passed away July 11, 2006 in Bakersfield, California with family and friends by her side. Virlia is preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Mauda Mitchell; brother, Charles Jones; sister, Jesse Wagoner and son, Ronald Barnes. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Dan Richards; grandchildren, Ed Richards, Ron and Christine Richards, Brian and Nicole Richards, Zane and Corey Richards and Noah Richards; great grandchildren, Miriah Richards, Bree Richards, Dilan Cook, Austin Bedford, Havana Bedford, Wyatt Richards, Rhyan Richards and Mason Richards as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors. In Virlia's early years she worked at Mission Linen Supply where she met the love of her life who happened to be her boss. Their union lasted 60 years until Marshall's passing December 11, 2005. In her youth she loved dancing, especially the jitterbug with her brother, Charles. Virlia's true passion was her family and home. This was evident in how her home was decorated and immaculately kept. She took pride and joy in serving her family; from always trying new recipes to interacting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those that were closest to her knew her great love was shopping, especially for shoes. Some of her hobbies were researching family history, crocheting, tending to her roses and reading novels. She was always available when someone needed a helping hand. A special thank you to Dr. Aruni Keni, Dr. Taliegh and Dr. Banergee. Thanks to Optimal Hospice especially to Patty, her most kind and loving nurse. For additional service or floral delivery information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
