Dale Owen Davis, 72, went to be with His Lord on July 18, 2015. Born in a log cabin in Obion County, he raised his family in Troy, Tennessee, in the house he helped to build with his own hands. Dale was a strong, hard-working, family man who retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 28 years. He began working before he could talk, and was proud of his years in the cotton fields, river bottoms, and log woods. He enjoyed horses, machinery, and fixing up the house; he was happiest in the middle of a project.

Dale tenderly cared for his first wife and mother of his daughters, Patricia Kay Etheridge Davis, until her painful passing. They are survived and missed by their daughters and families: LaDonna and David Rhodes, with children Austin, Josh, and Katelyn; Carrie Elizabeth and Ellis White; Angie and Roger Alford with children, Robby and Ashleigh. Other beloved family members include brothers, Fred, Clifton, and James Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Glen Reed, brother-in-law Larry Etheridge; and niece, Jennifer Taylor. Dale was the answer to the prayers of his devoted wife, Joyce. He blessed her daily and was dearly loved and respected by his new family and in-laws: step-son, Andy Bolinger; daughter-in-law, Denise and their children, Maddy and Will; sister-in-law, Marla McClanahan; and brother-in-law, Tommy Franklin.

The family will receive friends at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel in Knoxville on Wednesday, July 22 from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home in Union City on Thursday, July 23 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 pm. Graveside service will be at Terrace Hill Cemetery in Troy on July 24 at 2:00 p.m. Gentry Griffey is honored to serve the Davis family and invites you to view and sign the online guestbook at www.gentrygriffey.com.
