A year later he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Philadelphia region where he met a beautiful nurse named Dolores who soon became his wife in 1953. Bruno proudly served for 21 years in the Navy before retiring in 1969 as a Chief Petty Officer. Upon his retirement, he began volunteering at the Woodbury Probation Office and left in 1971 when he graduated from Glassboro State to fulfill his passion for teaching. Bruno taught at numerous Woodbury schools including The Annex, West End and the Walnut Street School until 1992 when he sadly retired again, but held many honored memories of the students he had enlightened. Bruno was a member of many organizations including the Woodbury AARP, Board of Trustees, St. Margaret's Senior Citizens, Woodbury Senior Citizens, treasurer of the GCEA, NJEA and local REA to name a few.
