Melvin Lee Blankenship, age 74, was born April 4, 1941 in Kent, OK, the son of W.G. Blankenship and Mattie Lois (Newton) Blankenship and had lived for over 30 years in Boswell.
Melvin married Portia Petty on April 11, 1958 in Carson City, NV. He loved his wife and family and loved aggravating his grandchildren. He also liked to fish, camp and enjoyed his orchard. Melvin was affiliated with New Life Family Church of Boswell.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE: his wife, Portia Blankenship; one son, Thomas James Blankenship of Duncan, OK; one daughter, Brenda Bell and husband, Doug of Soper; one brother, J.R. Blankenship of Soper; two sisters, Linda James of Shingletown, CA and Debbie Ansley of Boswell; six grandchildren, Randy Springfield, Joey Springfield, Ashleigh Kinslow, Johnny Trent, Tammy Blankenship and Shonna Archey; eleven great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Arlene Trent, a son, Melvin Blankenship, Jr.; a sister, Rita Hiltach and two brothers, Bill Blankenship and Gary Blankenship.
