Gail P. Shafer, age 69 passed away November 25, 2012 at her home in Sewell, NJ. A 1961 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Pittsburgh, PA and of Grove City College in 1965, Gail lived in the Pitman area most of her life with her parents Bill & Kay Shafer. She worked for the Woodbury School System as a teacher at West End School, retiring after 41 years. Gail was an active member of the Pitman United Methodist Church as leader of the Mary Circle and on the Missions Committee. She was active in NJEA, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Red Hat Society and recently the Woodbury Kiwanis Club. Survived by her brother Charles W. (Vicki) of Carmel, IN, nephew Matt Shafer (Charisse)of Indianapolis, IN, uncle Dr. George Selfridge of Chesterfield, MO, and cousins Judy (Kent) Jones of Millville, NJ, Rev. Scott Jones of Princeton, NJ, Pam (Bill) Ruane of Randolph, NJ, Kim (Lee) Schaffer of O'Fallon, MO and Cheryl Beth (John, Chelby & Cramer) Townsley of Houston, TX. Gail was predeceased by her parents Charles W. & Katherine (Selfridge) Shafer and aunt Edith S. Huston. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 7-9pm in the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ and Friday 9:30-10:45am in the chapel of the Pitman United Methodist Church, 758 N. Broadway, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be Friday at 11am in the Church. Interment Manahath Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Pitman United Methodist Church, Adventures in Faith, 758 N.
