Otis Edward "Pete" Peters, 90, longtime resident of Pitman, New Jersey, passed away after a short illness on October 8, 2013. Born in Woodbury, he served in the US Army and was retired from Mobil Oil in Paulsboro. He was a devoted husband to Pauline (nee Schmuck), loving father to Evelyn Hubler (Carl), Elain Kensil (Zane), and Renee Sheridan (Leonard); wonderful grandfather to Melissa Hahn (Tom), Laura Kensil, Matthew Kensil (Jacqueline), Leonard Sheridan III, Kathryn Colvin (Nicholas) and Samantha Sheridan; and caring great grandfather to Aiden, Katelyn, William and Jackson. He is also survived by his sister Elinor Parkin and her children. His experience in the US Army was a unique one. As his unit was occupying Tutzing, Germany, Pete was called to the central command office. He entered the residential building and noticed a picture of a beautiful woman on the wall of one of the rooms. Later, he was reported to have told his buddies, 'I just saw a picture of the woman I am going to marry." That union lasted 66 years. Friends may greet the family Thursday, October 10 from 9-11am in the KELLEY FUNERAL HOME, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment Manahath Cemetery, Glassboro.
