Johnny DeWitt Bass, 78, of Kokomo passed away at 10:31 am on July 2, 2015 at his residence. He was born to the late William and Mildred (Powell) Bass in Searcy, Arkansas. Johnny owned and operated Custom Built Barns which he started in 1975, and is now owned and operated by his son, Ray. Johnny loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting, fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his family and his dogs.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 57 years, Fannie (Payne) Bass of Kokomo; children, Rita (Bobby) McClish of Peru, Johnny “Ray” (Terri) Bass of Greentown, and Renee (Chris) McGinnis of Galveston; grandchildren, Michael McClish, Jason (Shannon) McClish, Holly Olivarez, Johnny D. Bass, Lydia Bass, Brooke (John) Radtke, Brittany Guy, Christina McGinnis, and Nickolas McGinnis; 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild on the way; siblings, Thomas (Linda) Bass, Bill (Reida) Bass, Rand (Leah) Bass, Kim (Keith) Jones, and sister in-laws, Mary Bass, and Barbara Gibson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Haskell Bass, and Jimmy Bass, and a sister, Wanda Hodge.
Visitation will be from11:00 am to 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Ellers Mortuary, 725 S. Main St, Kokomo. Services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday with Pastor Brad Swain officiating. Burial will be at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo.
