Obituary
Bill is a son of J Melvin and Mary J Wellington. He graduated from Fort Scott High School and served in the Army in World War II. Bill married the love of his life, Mary Jane Coambes on June 6, 1948 in Fort Scott. They moved first to Shawnee, Kansas, then later made a permanent home in Independence, Missouri.

Bill was a barber by trade who owned and operated the Blue Vue Barber Shop in Independence near the former Blue Ridge Mall for many years before retiring for health reasons. Bill was a member of the Blue Ridge Blvd United Methodist Church. They had a cabin at Lake of the Ozarks for a lot of years. After they sold that property they bought an RV and would winter every year in Donna, Texas. He and Janie were able to travel our beautiful county quite a bit before having to give up their home and move into Kingswood Retirement Living.

I feel fortunate to have known Bill personally. I knew him for over twenty years and came to know what a great person he was. Bill never met a man, woman or child he didn't like. He loved people and made friends everywhere he went. He always had a smile and a joke or two. Bill was 'Best Man' at our Wedding in 1986. He was an honorary Uncle to my spouse. Bill, you are missed.
