A NSW police officer killed while on duty. Sen Con Addison was based at Kempsey Police Station, and in the early hours of 9 July 1995 he and his partner Sen Con Spears were called to a malicious damages complaint in Crescent Head. When they approached the house, a gunman (McGowan) hidden near the carport opened up on them with a high-powered rifle, and Spears was hit. Addison ran to a nearby house to seek help but he was shot also. The offender then shot himself.
