Mr. W. H. "Hamp" Norsworthy, 84, of Portland, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. Born in Hot Springs and a resident of Portland for the past 62 years, he was a retired farmer; a member of the Portland United Methodist Church and a member of the Portland Masonic Lodge #499 having received his 50 year pin. He was an U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Gregory Norsworthy in 1990; his parents, John L. & Jessie B. Lyles Norsworthy, two brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by a son, Bill Norsworthy; a daughter, Nancy Murphy, both of Portland; three grandchildren, Trey, Greg & Rosanne Moyers, and two great-grandchildren, Damien & Tabor Moyers.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 17, in the Portland United Methodist Church with Rev. Gerald Myers officiating. Pallbearers were Bill & Fletcher Lassiter, Chuck & Bill Stephens, Tommy Moyers and Joel Newcome. Interment followed services at the Portland Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Portland Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. Tom Pugh, PO Box 37, Portland, AR 71663-0037.
