Stanley Joseph Potter was born April 12, 1925 to Edwin Jim and Myrtle C. (Davidsen) Potter in rural Trimont, Minnesota. He attended schools there graduating in 1943. Stanley helped on the family farm. On March 22, 1951 he entered the United States Army serving until his honorable discharge on March 21, 1953. On June 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to Martha Ann (Marty) Moore at the United Methodist Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. After their marriage, Stan farmed land the majority of his life and was involved in many other agricultural ventures including the cattle industry, commodities, and Potter Truckline. He was a member of Waverly Lutheran Church in rural Trimont. Stan was a member of 4-H, was a FFA Honorary Chapter farmer, National Cattleman's Association, American Beef Coucil, Alumni of Hazelton, co-founder of Arizota Meadow, at Wickenberg, Arizona. Stan enjoyed flying, boating, family trips and good jazz music. He loved his family and especially his six grandchildren.

Stanley died on Thursday morning, June 29, 2006 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of eighty-one years.

His wife, Martha, "Marty" Potter of Fairmont, Minnesota; his children, daughter, Pam Potter Langley and her husband, David and their children, Lauren and Logan all of Zumbrota, Minnesota, son, Steven Potter and his wife, Cathy, and their children, Andrew and Grace of Geneva, Illinois, Peter Potter and his wife, Jodi, and their children, Kristian and Hannah of Chaska, Minnesota, son, Dan Potter and his wife, Melissa, of Grant Township, rural Stillwater, Minnesota, daughter-in-law, Robin Potter of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Julie Anderson and her husband, Dr. Russ of San Luis Obispo, California; brother, Edwin "Jack" Potter and his wife, MaryAnn "Mim" of rural Trimont, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Ruth Boyne and her husband, Philip, of Leesville, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, son, Patrick J. Potter, sister, Delores "Dee" McCaulley; brother, William Potter; father and mother-in-law, Sidney and Myrtle Moore and other relatives and friends.
