Clinton Robert "Chet" Beane was born June 27, 1947, in Midland, and passed away June 17, 2015, at Mid-Michigan Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Clint was a lifetime resident of Auburn, and took great pride in his hometown roots.
Clint was the only son of Arthur William Beane and Betty Ruth Carroll. His dad preceded him in death in 1974. Clint married the love of his life, Ellen Louise Noss, on April 22, 1967. They recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Clint has two children, Kyle Beane (Rehne Voss) of Lapeer and Molly Young (Brett) of Davison. Clint has five grandchildren, Augusta Beane Gerhauser Young, Annika, Jack and Ethan Young and Teghan Hogan. Also surviving are his aunts, Katie (Carroll) Guoan, Ethel-Jean Carroll; sister-in-law, Grace (Mike) Barret; and their children, Cheryl, Michael, Christine, Greg and Chad.
Preceding Clint in death were his mother and father in-law, Norman and Edna (Prior) Noss; and a son-in-law, Fred Gerhauser. Clint's grandparents were Floyd and Florence (LeCronier), and John and Ethel (Berge) Carroll. Clint was also preceded in death by uncles and aunts, Bill and Vi (Beane) Reiss, Roland and Ellen (Beane) Reiss, Barney and Deannie (Beane) Bowen, Kenny Carroll, Harry and Donna Carroll, Johnny and Pinky Carroll, Ray and Margie (Carroll) Schmidt, and Leo and Mary Lou (Carroll) Wagner and Floyd Guoan.
Clint went to Auburn Elementary School and then to Bay City Central, where he graduated in 1965. He attended Delta College before being drafted into the United States Army, where he served in Vietnam from 1967 until 1969. Serving his country was a great honor, in which he took a private pride. He worked for The Dow Chemical Co. as a Pipe Fitter in their Skilled Trades division for 34 years, and retired in 2001.
Clint was many things in addition to being a husband, father, grandfather, soldier and employee. He was a baseball and basketball player through high school. He was a Hall of Fame fastpitch softball player until he was 47. He was a coach and manager of fastpitch softball teams until 2010. He was a lifetime hunter and fisherman, as well as a Hunter's Safety instructor. He was an assistant high school softball coach. He was a golfer. He was a farmer â€" for 20 years, he and his mother planted sweet corn and tomatoes and other vegetables, and sold them to the residents of Auburn and at the Midland Farmers Market.
He was a great friend to many people â€" he helped others when they needed it without question and without hesitation. He was a very proud American.
Of all these things and many more, he took the most pride and joy out of his family. Over the past three years, he had begun teaching his granddaughter Augusta how to farm, fish and hunt. He was first and foremost a son, a husband, a father and grandfather, and these four things he put his heart and soul into. Clint was, and forever will be, a kind and gentle man who loved those around him, and received that love back.
Honoring Clint's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will a visitation at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on June 20 from 2 to 7 p.m., with a Memorial Service beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a family interment at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Fisherville at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to family wishes or to the Williams Township Park in his name.
