He was born in Mountain View, Calif., to Philip and Fern Casebeer, the eldest of three boys.
When WW II broke out,he didn't go back to school, but was drafted into the Army Engineer Corps at a New Jersey radio school. He was sent out to ship radio school where he ended up getting on USAT Uraguay, making 13 trips across Atlantic to Liverpool and South Hampton as their radio operator.
He also worked at California Highway Patrol doing radio work for them after the war, and at San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge as a radio operator. He finally ended up working in San Francisco/Oakland docks for 27 years and retired.
He moved to Idaho with then wife, Vona, who later died. He married Karel Knigge in 1998.
He was a very active member and much missed by the Community Service where he was one of the original volunteers for many, many years through the Nampa Seventh Day Adventist church where he was a member. He chuckled when he found out it took three people to replace him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ted and Reg Casebeer; and wife, Vona McCoy.
He is survived by wife, Karel; stepchildren: Randy, Don, Jim Knigge and Karen Davis; many stepgrandchildren; and two nieces and two nephews from California.
A memorial service will be held on June 3, at 2 p.m., at the Nampa Seventh Day Adventist church on Iowa.
