CLINCHPORT, Va. - Billy R. Berry, 64, of the Fairview community, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning (March 30, 2006) at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was a graduate of Rye Cove High School and attended VPI in Blacksburg, Va. He was an insurance salesman for Virginia Farm Bureau and was later employed by Tennessee Eastman Company for 33½ years until his retirement in 1999.
He was a member of Red Hill Memorial Church in Pattonsville, Va., and accepted the Lord as his personal savior on March 14, 2006. He enjoyed attending Bible School and played a big part in "Share The Blessing" day.
Billy loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren brought special joy to his life. He also treasured the many friendships he had made throughout the years and he will always be remembered for his kind, gentle, and compassionate disposition.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gomer Berry.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years and 5 months, Patricia Berry of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Eddie Pearcy of Duffield, Va., and Jennifer and Jim Richmond of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Adam and Brian Pearcy, and Hannah and Emily Richmond; mother, Bonnie Berry Russell of Fairview, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Arvella and Tom Stewart of Fairview, Va.; his in-laws, Roy and Cora Walker of Fairview, Va.; a niece, several nephews, and a host of friends.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at The Duffield Funeral Home at Thomas Village or anytime at family residence or the residence of his sister, Arvella Stewart.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Garry Hood, Pastor Travis Boling, and Bro. Carl Gibson officiating.
Music will be provided by Saundra Tomlinson, Garry Hood, David Hood, and Ronnie Hood.
Committal services will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, Va.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Pearcy, Adam Pearcy, Jim Richmond, Shannon Stewart, Morgan Stewart, Jeff Walker, and Jonathan Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Stewart, Jerry Walker, Charles Funderburg, and Hal Rominger.
