Jean J. Shawn of Searchlight, NV died peacefully on Friday, May 15 in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 73. Jean was born on July 17, 1941, in Westerly, RI, and was the daughter of Josephine (Joseph) Montgomery and Dwight Miner Jr.
She Robert Maurice Shawn married May 3, 1958.
Jean was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed the many outings, playing Bingo and participating at the Searchlight Senior Center. She entertained us with her mass email jokes, enjoyed spending time on the computer, as well as making jewelry.
Throughout the years, Jean and Bob were small business owners, with a Swap Shop in CT, Shawn's Trading Post in McQueeney, TX, and Trader Bob's in Nevada.
With a growing family, Jean enjoyed creating birthday cakes for her children and special event cakes.
She is survived by seven children Robert, Russell, Sylvia Sandra, Randy, Sean, Rhonda, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; her sister Rose Ann and brother Robert.
She is preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon (Shawn) Aldrich of Gretna, NE and two grandchildren, Joshua and Brian Aldrich.
A Celebration of Life was held at the Cal-Nev-Ari Restaurant, NV, June 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. a potluck to follow. Ashes were scattered.
