Sonja Beth Aarhus, born August 1,

1969, died May 4, 2015 at Evergreen Hospice. She was the first child of Philip J Aarhus and Karen A Aarhus, now Grams. At age three, she moved with her family from Queens, N.Y. to Coos Bay, Oregon, then to Pasco WA. The remainder of her life was spent in the Seattle area. She attended Woodinville H.S., then a business college in Bellevue. In June of l992 she married Randall Brooks and in October of 1995 welcomed a baby daughter, Corinne. Throughout her life she enjoyed concerts, music, movies, crafts, hiking, soccer, the beach and nature in general. She spent many happy hours with her family.

She is survived by her father, Philip Aarhus and his wife Margaret, her mother Karen Grams and husband James Kittilsby, daughter Corinne Aarhusbrooks, sisters Gretchen Aarhus of Lynnwood, Amy Houston (Dan) of Everett, and Erin Clark (Jonathan) of Grants Pass, OR. and best friend and soul mate Michael Hurst of White Center, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.

Sonja will always be remembered for her exuberant smile and joyful laughter. Her compassionate heart and natural ability to show kindness was matched only by her genuine sense of wonder.

Her Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, at Saint Andrews Lutheran Church in Bellevue, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to Breast Cancer Research, or to Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland.
