He was born to Edward E Frederickson and Mary Frances Long Frederickson, according to the 1940 census he had younger brother Lawrence. His parents were married in Deadwood in 1935, his father was from Crook County Wy , his mother from Deadwood.
His father was an electrician in a gold mine. In 1945 James is still in Deadwood.
He was 1954 graduate of Father Flanagan's Boys Town in Omaha NE.
He was well known for many occupations around the Black Hills my husband remembers him as member of a motorcycle gang, that it was said had the ritual of membership, riding up 8th Street in Rapid City on a motorcycle naked!
He was a barber, a tattoo artist, a woodcarver and ran the Rouaix Trading Post. He was also known as a musician and preacher.
He had a parrot that he carried with him, my husband says he saw him at Reptile Gardens with it in the 1990's and also saw him in full biker out fit at Family Thrift Center in West Rapid.
He was named Singlejim the story goes by Tom T Hall, when he played the electric guitar with in France. Because he was born in Deadwood and when blasting in the Mines they used a single drill and the charge was known as a Single jack but since his name was not John, he became Singlejim!

He was the father of three children.
