Jim was a proud Marine, avid sports fan and caring father. He worked most of his life as a carpenter in Illinois, Texas and Washington. Jim enjoyed playing in men's softball leagues throughout Lake County, loved sports cars and was a fervent jazz fan.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Sallie Haines of Waukegan. Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley (Grant); brothers, Jerry (Cyndi); Larry (Beverly), Jack and Tony Haines; children Lynn Farias (Ruben), Jim, Laurie Mattson Pantti, Chris Ruiz (Robert), Jeff, and Cheryl Michaelson (Nate); former wife, Arlene (Ahonen) Huhta; stepchildren, Jimmy Kliever, Robin Gibbons, Dustin Kliever and Michelle Goodell; and many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
