Mrs. Jean Elizabeth Noonan, formerly of Libertytown, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Vindobona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Braddock Heights, after an extended illness. Born in Frederick, she was the oldest child of the late Ivan and Millicent Nusz Strine. She was the wife of Edward Joseph Noonan who died in 2009.

Mrs. Noonan was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Libertytown. She was formerly employed with the State of Maryland, Division of Parole and Probation, working with the work release program. Jean was interested in history and the cultures of other people, leading to her travels with her husband throughout the world.

Jean loved poetry and became a published poet. She also enjoyed classical and folk music and reading.

Surviving are her son, David Michael Strine and wife Joan of Walkersville; a brother, Robert L. Strine and wife Peggy of Frederick; brother-in-law, Eugene Linton of Yellow Springs; a special aunt, Kate Nusz of Rocky Springs and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Mary Martha Strine and Anne Strine Linton and a brother, David C. Strine.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 21, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Jason Worley as the celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Libertytown.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown.
