Funeral services were held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. from the Glenwood Baptist Church for Mrs Sallie Annette Griswold Rivers, 72, widow of the late John Guy Rivers, who died unexpectedly at her home Friday night about 8:45 o'clock.The Rev. James Elerson, the Rev Kell Hinson and the Rev. C.E. Bines officiated, and burial was in the Glenwood City Cemetery, with Murchison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.Pallbearers were G.M. Joiner, W.C. Pittman, Jimmy Clark, Bob Atchison Jr., Eschol Guin, and Lamar Conner.Honorary pallbearers were W.R. Browning, Harold Clark, Kent Currie, Jimmy Fields, Aubrey Pittman and Pratt Raffield.Mrs. Rivers was born in Hurtsboro, Ala., on May 15, 1893, and had lived in Glenwood for 44 years. She was a member of the Glenwood Baptist Church, was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years, a Sunbeam leader for several years, and was a member of the Eastern Star.Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Kennedy, of Dublin; two sons, John T. Rivers, of Georgetown, S.C., and Walter Guy Rivers of Brunswick; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Griswold, of Mountain Home, Tenn.
