Daddy died in the VA hospital in Gainsville Florida and his cremated ashes were buried in Travers City Michigan.

He was living in Pelham, Georgia with his third wife Sandy Lee Itson and new born daughter Erica Noel when he died from a brain tumor in the VA hospital in Gainsville, Florida.

He also had nine children from his second wife Phyllis Pauline Rife.

Their children were Miles Chris, Renne' Marie, Jackie Lynn, Douglas Dean, Mary Phyllis, Laura Jean, Sandra Ann, Stacey Allen and Jennifer Sue.

The day my dad was wounded in WWII.
WWII – Germany
As my daddy told it to me many years ago. And as I remember.
Daddy said they were flying over Germany to drop some bombs. Just as they were dropping down to release the bombs they hit an air pocket and the plane dropped causing one of the men to fall over the open door. Daddy said he pushed the man across and in doing so fell into the open bomb door. They were down low near the ground and the enemy was shooting at them. He was shot in both his upper legs. He was still able to hold on and to shout out orders and when they were able to they lifted him up out of the hole. He continued to give orders until they landed. Then they carried him on a stretcher off the plane and airlifted him to a hospital in England. He stayed there until he was well enough to come home to Dowagiac, Michigan. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He had no children by his first wife Doris Martin.
