John Edward Stell, 71, of Hamburg died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at his residence. A native of Seminole, OK, but a resident of Hamburg for the past 40 years, he was a retired truck driver for Whoresham Wholesale and a member of Promise Land Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Ellen Wesson Stell; one step-son, Robert Davis and wife Andrea of Joelton, TN; three daughters, Joyce Ann Lawson and husband Joe of Dumas, Karen Sue Baber and husband Pac of Winchester, KY, and Linda Faulkner of Monticello; three step-daughters, Denise Edwards and husband Jody and Rhonda Davis of Hamburg, and Vickie Hornaday and husband Danny of Jefferson; 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Alonzo Stell and Delois Williams; one brother, Kenneth Stell; and one step-grandson, Henry Earl Chapple Jr.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 10, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg with Bro. Kenny Bolin officiating. Burial was at Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers were Royce, Ray, David and Wayne Wesson, Danny Hornaday and Mark Stutts. Honorary pallbearers were Jody Edwards and David Carter.
