BUHL, PETER E., passed away on July 10, 2011 at his home after a three-year-long battle with throat cancer. Pete was born on August 29, 1945, in Eschwege, Germany. He and his mother immigrated to Detroit, MI, where he lived until moving to Louisville in 1973. Pete was a devoted fan of all sports at the University of Louisville, and a founding father of the "Crunch Zone." He was a loving father and grandfather, a devoted husband, an outstanding salesman, an avid golfer, a talented singer, and a movie buff. He touched many lives with his fun and positive outlook even during his last few days. Those who knew him can honestly say they were lucky they "got to meet Pete." He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Mueller Buhl; and his stepfather, Jay Horton Buhl. Pete is survived by his wife, Jennifer Buhl; his two children, Heidi Kempster (Jeff) and Jeremy Buhl (Sarah); the mother of his two children, Betty Buhl; stepdaughters, Anne Almond (Andy) and Lisa Eichengreen; and grandchildren, Aubrey Buhl, Jay Buhl, and Alexis Almond. He is also survived by his two siblings, Udo Buhl (Roxanne) and Ingrid Phelps, as well as several nieces and nephews. In celebration of his life, there will be a memorial service at Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church, 4936 Brownsboro Road on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Pearson Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road. Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Wayside Christian Mission or to Hosparus of Louisville.
