Betty Jean Caddel, of Bronte, Texas, was taken home after a long illness on May 1, 2015, to be with the Lord and those loved ones that preceded her.

Betty was born June 2, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, to Elmer and Pauline (Hull) McClure.

She is survived by her two children, Wayne Rhodes and wife Janet of Bronte, Texas, and Anita Walton and husband Ronnie of Cisco, Texas; and her grandchildren, Chad and Walter Montgomery, Joey and Cindy Rhodes of San Angelo, Jenita Baken of Winters, Dawn Rhodes of Bronte and Shane Cupps and wife Angie of Plano.

She had 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; husband; one granddaughter, Sherry Cupps Annis; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Betty was a kind and compassionate woman of strong faith and loved her family with all her heart. Her passion was reading the Bible and she loved fishing all of her life, but always said "I love catching them, but I don't want to eat them."

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte, Texas. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
