husband of Martha Graham WilsonPhotos from Bonnie (Faver) Hawkins & her sister, Pam (Faver) Steffen - gg granddaughters of Mikerel. Mikerel's name has been spelled various ways over the years as can be seen by Federal Census records, etc.

Bonnie Hawkins told about a conversation with Mikerel and Mattie's daughter, Rosetta, who recalled information and events as though they had happened yesterday. Rosetta was past 95 years old at the time. She told Bonnie about one of her brothers, Johnny, dying before she was born; about her uncle (Shadrick Wilson), fighting in the Civil War and never coming home; her brother, Will, falling from the thrashing machine and dying from a broken neck.

Mikerel's parents were:
Micah Wilson 1808–1886

On Nov. 1, 1850 (Federal Census),

Times were fairly good in the Wilson family until the Civil War broke out. Micah was barely into his teens. As Southerners, the family's sympathies were strongly on the side of the Confederacy. Micah & his parents, as well as other members of the family, must have coped with various emotions when his five older brothers (Ephraim, Moran, Posey, Shadrack, & John) joined Confederacy units determined to fight for their cause. One by one they were all killed, until only John survived.

Sometime before the following census, the family moved to Corinth, MS, perhaps hoping for a better life.
