Paula Elizabeth (Mueller) Fike, Ramona, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Medicalodges in Herington, KS. She was a homemaker and retired postmaster at Ramona.

She was born on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1931 at the family farm north of Tampa, KS, the eighth of ten children to Henry Frederich Karl (HFK) and Mathilde Elise (nee Bielefeld) Mueller. She was baptized at, and attended parochial school at St. John’s Lutheran, North Tampa through fifth grade. Paula also was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1945 at St. John’s. She finished elementary school in Tampa and graduated with the Tampa High School class of 1949. She was active in school, playing trombone in the high school band and was also a cheerleader.

She met her future husband, Warren Fike, of Ramona, KS, at a 4th of July picnic in Hope, KS. They were married on December 28, 1949 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tampa. To this union were born seven children: Linda Diane, Sandra Ann, Carla Jean, Glenda Sue, Gary Dean, Dennis Dale, and Sara Jane. They began their married life together on a couple of rented farm homes around Ramona, KS until Warren’s father passed away in May of 1954. They moved into the family farm home later that year and remained there until health became a concern and Paula was moved into Medicalodges, Herington, KS in January of 2015.

Paula was active in her church and community. She was a member of the County Liners Extension Homemaker’s Unit from the early 1950’s until it was disbanded in the late 1990’s. She served as a foods project leader and as a community club leader for the Ramona Red Chiefs 4-H Club for several years and was involved in it’s founding. She served her Lord as a Sunday School teacher and catechism teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ramona, and attended many different bible study groups. Her faith was strong and never wavered.

Her greatest earthly joy centered around her family. She was a tireless and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. At home, she often helped Warren with field work and chores. She loved and provided well for her large family, washing, cleaning, and cooking without complaint. She prepared innumerable family dinners for her extended family and loved entertaining them at holidays, birthdays, and other celebrations.

She is survived by Warren, of the home; daughters Linda (Dan) Peterson of Burdick; Sandra (Steve) Deines of Pierce City, MO; Carla (Stacey) Collett of Marion; Glenda (Mike) Jirak of Glade; and Sara (Shane Hack) Eells of Berryton; two sons, Gary (Karol) of Westmoreland and Dennis (LouAnn) of Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Doris (Richard) Ott of Golden, MO; sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter (Shelby Linahan); a stillborn brother; six brothers: Arnold, Erich, Werner (“Bing”), Lloyd (“Butch”), Arthur, and Lawrence; and two sisters: Alice Winter and Agnes Steinert,

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ramona with Reverend Clark Davis officiating. Her final resting place will be in the Lewis Cemetery, Ramona. The family of Paula will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hospice of Dickinson County, or to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent in care of the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, 106 N. Second, Hope, Kansas 67451.
