Obituary

Kay Ramsey Blankenship, 78, of Asheville died Tuesday, October 17, 2012 at Memorial Mission Hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, she was daughter of the late Miller Jacob and Mildred Brown Ramsey.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Blankenship in April, 2010 and two sisters, Nell Mackey and JoAnn Hyder.

Mrs. Blankenship graduated from UNC Greensboro with a degree in teaching and taught 6th Grade at West Buncombe Elementary and Clyde A. Erwin Middle School.
Following retirement Mr. and Mrs. Blankenship moved into Western NC Baptist Home.
She was a member of the Red Hat Club and First Baptist Church of Asheville.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Woolwine and her husband, Chris and their daughter, Lauren all of Princeton, WV and several nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 27, 2012, in the chapel of Morris Funeral Home,
304 Merrimon Avenue with Rev. Eddie Morgan officiating.

Interment will follow at Sluder Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, NC 28806.
