Arthur Havelock Banks - On Tuesday morning, Nov. 21st, there passed to his eternal rest, Arthur Havelock Banks of Meadowvale, at the age of 75 years. Mr. Banks was the only son and last surviving member of the family of the Late Dimock and Elizabeth (Goucher) Banks. In early manhood, Mr.
Banks worked with his father at the shoemaking trade. He was for a time on the staff of the late L.S. Shaffner of Middleton, after which he served as Postmaster in Meadowvale for a number of years. Of a quiet and unassuming nature, Mr. Banks will be remembered by many as honest and upright in his dealings. A good friend and neighbor. He is survived by his widow, formerly Annie I. Balcom of Paradise and two sons: Rupert at home and Lloyd of Paradise; 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral was held from the home on Thursday afternoon and was conducted by Dr. J.J. Sidey, assisted by Rev. Wm. Freeman. Hymns sung were “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Abide With Me,” “There’s a Land That is Fairer Than Day.” Interment in Tremont Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Theodore Noble, Manning Potter, Percy Parker and Oakley Banks.”
