Jennifer Lea McConnell, 47, was born Dec. 4, 1960 in Pullman, Wash. She died in March 26 after her battle with cancer.

She moved to Cheney in 1975 where she graduated high school. Jenny worked several different jobs to support herself through high school and college; Turnbull Wildlife Refuge, Mitchell's IGA meat department, Cheney Care Center, and Bills Fills gas station.

She married in 1985 and had two children, Jayson and Sarah, the light in her eyes.

Jenny went to college for nine years and graduated from Eastern Washington University as a recreational therapist. Her first job was as activity director at Cheney Care Center and then she moved to Lakeland Village, Interlake Hospital and Eastern State Hospital where she worked for the last 18 years.

Jenny is survived by her two children, Jayson M. McConnell and Sarah N. McConnell, mother Mary Anne Johnston, father Cletus Bromeling, sister Zae Lynn Anderson, all from Cheney, brothers John Cashup Johnston and Chris P. Johnston, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, friends, and fiancé, David Hove of Cheney.

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank all of Jenny's co-workers and friends who helped Jenny's memorial to be a huge success. Thank you to everyone for all the support, flowers, cards, and food. A special thanks to the Cheney Funeral Chapel and District 3 Fire Station on Salnave.
