She was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Arthur and Helen Wood Retkofsky.
Dorothy Jane was a longtime resident of Bullskin Township. She had worked as a nurse's aide for the former Wolfe's Nursing Home. She was a volunteer at the Bullskin Township Senior Citizens Center and a member of Pleasant Valley Community Church and its Ladies Bible Class.
Dorothy Jane will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by her loving children, Florence Selby and husband, Harry, of Dunbar, Nevada Blystone and husband, Charles, of Aiken, S.C., Arthur G. Geary and wife, Karen, of New York, Patricia Beal and husband, Tony, of Mt. Pleasant, William H. Geary and wife, Mary Kay, of White, and Karla Ramage and husband, Ron, of Connellsville; her stepchildren, Christopher R. Geary, of Oregon, Samuel E. Geary and wife, Susie, of Dawson, and Dorothy Showman, of Connellsville; 17 grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, Dorothy Jane was predeceased by her husband, Roy H. Geary, in 1975; a daughter, Helen Ritenour; and two brothers, Charles and William Retkofsky. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Nick Impavido officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Knopsnider Cemetery, White.
