March 22,1957:JAMES CALVIN KARR Dies this Morning After Long Illness:JAMES CALVIN KARR, a life long resident of the Pottersville Community, died this morning at 3:30 at the home of his brother, D.M. KARR, Rover Route, West Plains, following an illness of several months duration. Mr. KARR was born at Pottersville, AUG. 10,1892, to the late JOHN W. & MARY E. KARR.Surviving is a son JAMES A. KARR of St. Louis, MO. and a daughter MAXCENE MITCHELL, of PONCA CITY, OKLAHOMA; nine grandchildren; four sisters, ELIZABETH LAWING, CARRIE ROBINSON & LESTA HOPKINS all of Longmont Colorado and VESTA PENTECOST of Swedeborg, MO. and three brothers, JOSEPH M. KARR of Longmont Colorado, L. I. KARR of Chatsworth, California, and DM KARR in whose home he died.Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.Mr. KARR was married June 12, 1919 at Hominy OKLAHOMA to PEARL MANZER, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. ORMAN MANZER.He was a veteran of WWI having served with the 89th division and a veteran of WWII having served with the U.S. Engineers. He spent 14 months with the U.S. Engineers at Brisbane, Australia.He was a member of the VFW & American Legion, having membership in two posts at Longmont, Colorado.Mr., KARR was an oil rigger prior to his retirement several years ago because of ill health.Funeral arrangements, under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home, are incomplete pending the arrival of relatives.
