Funeral services for Andrew H. McKay were held May 29 from the First Methodist church, Rev. John H. Payne officiated. Pallbearers were Earl Thompson, O. E. Bormes, Marvin Hammer, George Wagner, Leo Hammer and Alex Anderson. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery.
Andrew H. McKay was born Nov. 14, 1872 on the old McKay home located on McKay Avenue in Alexandria, the son of J. A. and Angeline McKay. He grew to manhood in Alexandria and graduated from the Alexandria high school, later attending business college at Mankato. He was united in marriage to Margaret Maroney June 6, 1911. For 36 years he and his brother, Ronald, operated a retail grocery store in Alexandria until their retirement in 1952.
For the past two months Mr. McKay has been in ill health and passed away at the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Alexandria, May 25 at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 11 days. Surviving are his wife, two granddaughters, Carol Jean and Sharon Lee and two sisters, Catherine McKay of Alexandria and Elizabeth, Mrs. Roy Glockner, of St. Paul. He was preceded in death by one son, Douglas, 6 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Andrew was a lifetime member of the First Methodist church in Alexandria and has held many offices in the church.
