Mr. Slingsby served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He retrired from Operating Engineers Local 150 as a 50-year member. He owned Illini Gopher Truck Line. Before he retired, he operated a crane for Jake's Crane in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1950.
He is survived by his wife, Rene' Slingsby' by a daughter, Jolene Slingsby of Granville; by a son, John (Chris) Slingsby of Ladd; by two grandchildren, Michael Slingsby and Ryan Slingsby; and by a sister, Eileen (Thomas) Zachary of Ottawa. A sister, Elain Slingsby, died previously.
