On June 4th, 17-year-old Katherine Patricia Bolka succumbed to injuries sustained from a senseless automobile accident. This was a vibrant, beautiful young woman who embraced life with an open heart and mind, and thought and felt everything deeply. A burgeoning artist of considerable gifts, this was a distinctive voice of which we surely should have heard more. Katie was a Renaissance young woman in a contemporary world with a keen appreciation of poetry and music, from classical to alternative. This summer Katie looked forward to choosing a college, taking art classes and going on vacation with her family. But she most eagerly anticipated becoming a senior at Ursuline Academy of Dallas. She is survived by her father Richard, mother Johna, sister and best friend Nina, grandparents Maria, Kay, John and Ed, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. She made the world a better place for us all. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Katherine Bolka Scholarship Fund for Academic and Visual Arts Excellence, Ursuline Academy, 4900 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75229. The Celebration Mass of Christian burial will take place Thursday, June 8th at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75225 with Monsignor Donald F. Zimmerman and Father Jack Deeves SJ. presiding. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
