Mr. Charles R.Dixon Jr., 79, of 301 4th street, Glenwood, died Wednesday afternoon, November 16, in East Georgia Regional Medical Center of Statesboro after a brief illness. Mr. Dixon was a native and lifelong resident retired from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and served in the U.S.Navy during World War II. Mr. Dixon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenwood.Mr Dixon is survived by his wife: Annie C Dixon of Glenwood; one son and his wife: Mike and Lyn Dixon of Statesboro;one daughter and her husband: Suzanne and Gary Usher of Glenwood; one brother: Erma Dixon of Vidalia; two sisters: Ruby Dixon of Ailey, and Ruth Hensley of Winder; three granddaughters: Heather Braddy of Statesboro, Avani Ingley of Atlanta, and Amee Patel of Athens.Funeral services for Mr. Charles R. Dixon Jr. were conducted Friday afternoon, November 18, at 3:00 from Glenwood First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dan Zeliner and Rev. Jerry Ray officiating. Interment followed in Glenwood City Cemetery.Active pallbearers were: G. M. Joiner, Tony Fulford, Fred Gilder, Sam Henry, L. W. Kent, and Hal Futral. Honorary pallbearers were: Georgia Department of Natural Resources.Ronnie L.
