Robert Paul Wiese Sr. was born September 25, 1915 to John and Anna (Lorenzen) Wiese in Warren Township, Carroll County, Manning, Iowa. He graduated from the 8th grade from Bell school in Flandreau, South Dakota. On June 11, 1936, Robert was united in marriage to Gertie Peper at the Lutheran Parsonage in Lake Preston, South Dakota by Rev. E.C. Eid. He was received into the kingdom of God through Holy Baptism on March 3, 1938 and later confirmed on March 13, 1938 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chester, South Dakota. When they were first married, they lived near Flandreau where they farmed with his parents. They later moved to the Dell Smith farm in 1938 where they farmed until moving to Rushmore, Minnesota in 1956. They moved to a farm near Luverne, Minnesota. In 1957 they moved into Luverne where Bob did custom corn shelling and later drove a livestock truck. They later moved to Wilmont where Bob drove truck for Hoffman Trucking. Bob went to Police School and was a Police Officer in Wilmont. They moved to Schuyler, Nebraska and Bob worked for Young and Hay Company until moving back to Wilmont. In 1979 they moved to Village Apartments in Sherburn. Gertie died on August 12, 2002. Bob became a resident of Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center on March 11, 2003. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn. He greatly enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and five-hundred. If he wasn't farming he went fishing.

Robert died on Tuesday evening, February 14, 2006 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of ninety-years, four months and seventeen days.

Robert is survived by his children; Roberta Garbers and her husband, Marvin, of Sherburn, Minnesota, Rosella Pavel and her husband, Norman, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Robert Wiese Jr. and his wife, Jackie, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; granddaughters, Brenda Lovhaug and her husband, David, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Tammy Gaden and her husband, Thomas, of Omaha, Nebraska, Traci Anthens and her husband, John, of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Deanna Garbers of Sherburn, Minnesota, Marla Anderson and her husband, Clifford, of rural Sherburn, Minnesota; two step-grandsons, Russell and Robert Peterson; great grandsons, Daniel Lovhaug of Brooklyn Park, Garrett Anthens of Nebraska City and Paul Lovhaug of Brooklyn Park, Jacob Anthens of Nebraska City, Grant Gaden of Omaha, William Gaden of Omaha and Zachary Anderson of rural Sherburn; great granddaughters, Bethany Lovhaug of Brooklyn Park, Mackenzie Anthens of Nebraska City; four step-great grandchildren, Michael, Amy, David and Lisa Peterson; one step great-great granddaughter, Anna Peterson; one step great-great grandson, Cody Peterson; three sisters, Winnifred Luschen, Edythe Garrison and Maxine Doyle all of Flandreau; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Wiese and Viola Peper both of Flandreau; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gertie; four brothers, Carl, Bernhardt, Elmer and Andrew Wiese; four sisters, Adeline Christiansen and her husband, Henry, Johannah Volkmann and her husband, Herbert, Marie Koenck and her husband, Emil, Alice Richeal and her husband, Raymond; brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry Luschen, Ervin Doyle, Richard Garrison, Viola and George Relf, Herman and Francis Peper, Emil and Wilma Peper and Edna and Desmond Johnson and other relatives.
