Shirley LaVerne Elizabeth Davis, age 94 of Wheatfield, IN passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at her residence. She was born on November 8, 1920 in Chicago, Il the daughter of John and Anna (Swartz) Spiece, both deceased.
Shirley attended the Kniman school and on January 27, 1936 she married Lester Elias Davis and he preceded her in death on November 12, 1977.
Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wheatfield and had worked for 29 years as a cook in the Wheatfield School system.
Shirley is survived by her loving children; Shirley May Jefferson, James Lester (Mayetta) Davis, William Ray (Jean) Davis, Mary Lou (Larry) Whitaker and Donna (Nicholas) Sohn all of Wheatfield. A brother Frederick (Deloris) Spiece of FL and a sister in law Marian Spiece of TX, a daughter in law Ora Davis of Wheatfield; 20 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester, 3 sons, Robert, Ronald and Frederick, 2 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 2 - 8 PM at Jackson Funeral Service in Wheatfield, IN. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Derald Ailes officiating at the Jackson Funeral Service in Wheatfield, IN.
Interment will follow at the Wheatfield Cemetery.
