James Irving Nelson was first married to Anna Christina Oslund and they had 6 children (3 sons and 3 daughters)and lived in Alberta, Canada before moving to Washington in 1928, where the last 2 children were born.

About 1953 Jim married my grandmother, Nellie Lee (Blair) Hanson. His youngest daughter Virginia Louise had been married to my grandmother's youngest son, Robert Lee Hanson since 1945, but this union made them also step-siblings.

NOTE: Although his obituary says he was born in Storden, Minnesota, that information was incorrectly given by one of his family members. His own WW II Draft Card that he supplied the information for, states he was born in Windom, Cottonwood Co, Minnesota.
