They had 3 children: my Mom, Helen Margaret (Hanson) Marshall, Lane, Sheckler; James Arthur Hanson and Robert Lee Harrison, all now deceased.
My Nonna's 2nd marriage was to James Irving Nelson about 1953, who was the father of her daughter-in-law, Virginia Lee (Nelson) Hanson, wife of Robert Lee Hanson. He died 22 May 1968 at their home in Seattle. I am the first born of Nonna's 5 grandchildren and her grandson, Steven Lee Hanson died in a river rafting drowning accident on 08 Aug 1974 in the Skykomish River east of Goldbar, Snohomish Co, Washington.

Mrs. Nellie L. Nelson, 78, mother of Seattle's acting police chief, Robert L. Hanson, died yesterday in a hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Nelson, widow of James I. Nelson was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, the Lady Lions, The Ballard Emblems Club, Elks Lodge No. 827 and the 45th District Democratic Club.
Mrs. Nelson, who was born in Kentucky, also was the mother of Seattle Police Sgt. James A. Hanson, step-mother of Detective Kenneth J. Nelson and mother of mrs. Helen Sheckler, Lynnwood.
She also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. William Schmidt and Mrs. Isabelle Winters, both of California.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Johnson & Sons Cummings Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen.
