Esther M. Alexis was born in Akron, Ohio, August 23, 1921, and passed away April 23, 2009, in Copley, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by Clyde and Ethel Graves (parents), Dorothy Jennings (sister) and Bill Alexis (former husband).

Esther graduated from Akron's North High School, served in the U.S. Women's Army Corp in Western Europe following World War II. She lived in Cuyahoga Falls, Wadsworth, Mentor and Darmstadt, West Germany. She was a secretary for the Goodyear Tire Company and Sears Roebuck. She attended area Lutheran churches and Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed life, golf, traveling and a good laugh.

Esther is survived by her son, Tim Alexis; her daughter, Shirley (Larry) Volpe; step-daughter, Janet Alexis, each of the area; stepson, Randy (Nancy) Alexis of Texas; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Ron (Bonnie) Graves of Ashland; and brother-in-law, Duane Jennings of Colorado.

On Monday, April 27, 2009, visitation, 11 a.m. to Noon and a Noon Memorial Service, will be at the Cox Funeral Home, 1376 High Street, Wadsworth, Ohio, one mile north of I-76 along OH 94, Pastor Ron Graves will lead the memorial service. A private burial preceded the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asera Care Hospice of Akron or the charity of your choice. (COX, WADSWORTH, 330-335-3311)
