Son of Arvid Knute Alexis and Olga Jacobson originally of Pennsylvania. Both sets of his grandparents were born in Sweden.

WADSWORTH -- William "Bill" D. Alexis, 85, of Wadsworth died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 following a short illness.
Born May 2, 1922 in Akron to the late Arvid and Olga Alexis. Bill was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Akron Men's Garden Club, BF Goodrich retirees, active in various World War II Army Air Corps organizations, and was an avid swimmer and outdoors man. He was a senior product tire engineer at BF Goodrich and over saw the racing program in the early 1970's and later retired from BF Goodrich after 37 years of service.
Preceeded in death by his brother, Don Alexis. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Randy (Nancy) of Austin, Texas, Janet Alexis of Wadsworth, Shirley (Larry) Volpe of Wadsworth, and Tim Alexis of Wadsworth. There are six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; also surviving.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church, 146 High Street, Wadsworth with The Rev. Daniel J. Cammarn and Rev. Ann Paynter officiating. Interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 16, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth.
