Becky was born in Vero Beach, Florida, what a joy she brought to her parents, Curtis and Pat King. She could have been an Indian Queen, but Curtis did not accept the trade offered by the Chief of the tribe.
She was the life of the party. The joy in our lives. Everyone who knew her loved her. she had a quick wit and glorious sense of humor. There was nothing better than riding around neighborhoods with "the king".
She received her masters degree in information technology at Florida Institute of Technology. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She was a founding member and vocalist of the band, "Poly Esther and the Double Knits." She worked at Verizon Wireless in the I.T. department. Many would say her most amazing contribution to the world was the miracle of giving birth to her only daughter, Kimberly Robin King Gassen. Kim married in 2002 to Eric Gassen (best son-in-law- ever and picked out by Becky) in 2003 the most wonderful granddaughter Bella Lura Gassen was born.
She loved her brother Jack-William Jackson King of Miami, Florida. Whenever they were together they annoyed people far and wide with a language all their own, the were very close.
She loved music-especially Patti Smith. She had a wealth of song lyrics, trivia and so much knowledge stored in her amazing brain. Her brother called her Becky-pedia. She was an avid Florida Gators supporter, maybe because her dad played on the team.
She was diagnosed in Nov 2012 with Cancer in her breast, lung, brain and bone. But to that she said "Nay Nay." She amazed all the doctors with her force of will and strong faith in God to survive. They called her a miracle. She made it 2&1/2 years with little to no pain, only frustration about the physical limitations of which she no longer needs to be burdened with. She gave in on March 29th, at home surrounded by Kim, Eric and Bella. She was so thankful for your love, prayers and support. It meant so much to her. She was the best Mom ever, best friend ever, the best sister ever. Bella says she was an awesome Grandma, she was strong and liked to color Spongebob Squarepant Pictures!
Her spirit was so beautiful, as bright as the sun and as sparkling as her eyes.
