Joanne Leigh Johnson
AGE: 62
Joanne Leigh Johnson, 62, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Herbert Johnson of Woodbury, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2015 at ManorCare in West Deptford.
Predeceased by her brother Herbert, she is survived by her sister, Marilynn Johnson Barre, her brother-in-law Fred Barre, her sister-in-law Sally Johnson, her nephews Douglass Barre (Kay) and Jeffrey Johnson (Kelly), her nieces Laura Barre Nadler (David) and Amy Johnson (Michael Alessi), six grand-nephews and a grand-niece.
Joanne lived much of her life with her parents in Woodbury. She participated in a variety of programs at St. John of God in Westville during that time. For the past fifteen years, she has lived at two Devereux group homes: Potsdam House in Glassboro, and more recently, Windmill House in Clementon. The family would like to thank Devereux for their loving care of Joanne during her time with them. Joanne lived a full and rich life filled with family and friends. Her favorite activities were listening to music, especially rock and roll of the 50's and 60's, and dancing. She leaves a legacy of gentle kindness and playfulness to all who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on April 18 at 11:00am, with visitation starting at 10:00am. at the BUDD FUNERAL HOME, 522 Salem Ave., (Kings Hwy), Woodbury, NJ. Interment Eglington Cemetery will follow the service.
