*Obituary written by his daughter in law.

He was an electrician by trade and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He served on the U.S.S. Newport News, (CA-148) which was a Des Moines class heavy cruiser. As a civilian Jerry worked for General Telephone Electric as an installer, then later as a supervisor. His nickname was "Sam." Jerry served his community after his retirement as an election judge.

Jerry was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, from the time the Braves franchise was in Milwaukee, and continued to follow the team after they moved to Atlanta. He was a fan of Reba McEntyre and country music. He enjoyed watching Nascar Racing.
Per his request, Jerry was buried with ashes of a beloved companion, Matilda, the Pomeranian, who had passed previously. Grandpa loved Tillie. Tillie would dance around on her hind legs when she wanted treats. She would also bite you when you tried to leave.

Cause of Death: Cancer

When my Grandma passed away in 1998, Grandpa and I began having dinner every Tuesday. We had our dinners for 17 years. We helped each other cope with her loss. He was not only my grandfather, but my friend. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to get to know him and the time we got to spend together. Many times a grandparent is gone before one is old enough to truly appreciate one's grandparent.
He will ever be loved and missed by his grandchildren.

Grandpa was very sad when his brother in law and very close friend Larry Cave passed away. We miss Uncle Larry.
