BURIED AT SEA
John S. was in Company A 16th PA Infantry which served in the Spanish American War. He was from Corry, PA. It is possible that he was the son of Frank S. Barney who was born April 23, 1828 - died December 27, 1898 age 70, and Mary J. Barney born June 8, 1834 - died November 14, 1902 age 68y10m2d. Both are buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Corry, Pa. Barney would have been the right age to be their son.

∼John was a private serving with the 16th Pennsylvania Regiment during the Spanish-American War. He died on the hospital ship “Relief” in transit from Santiago, Puerto Rico, to New York and was buried at sea.
